Maritime Documents & Ranks

Some people wish to join maritime job, but they don't know where to start from and what they need to start carry on this field, on this post, i will explain some basic things you need.

Basically, to become maritime professional, you most have high school or university certificate, you can check this rules on the stcw.org   site.

For cadets, you need to have 4 basic stcw78/95 training certificates:

1.  Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats

2.  Basic Safety Training

3.  Fire fighting Training

4. Basic first aid training

 For engine and deck officers, you will need the above listed plus additional  four or more certificates pending on you rank (eg. 3rd engineer unlimited need 8 certificates plus 12 or more years of sea going /repairing  experience ). Engine and Deck Cadet vacancy

Maritime or shipping service, has created a lots of job opportunities worldwide. Today, because of world crisis, the shipping companies have reduced there way of employing crew members on-board.

Only fiew companies do demand for Cadet officers to work with them. Now to tell you the secret about it, "If you do not have COC, no company will take you as  cadet. Why because, they believe that if you have for example 4th or 3rd class certificate of competency, after your cadet program with them, you will remain there worker, and in that case, they can spend less than what they spend before employing old or experience guys"

There are companies out there who also offer cadet program, but you need to pay some cash, for them to fix you into such position. If you are looking for Cadet program you can go to maritime Union   .
